Elves drive big construction project in Iceland

Their special rock had to be unearthed

Elves are a big thing in Iceland, and many public construction projects have been undone or re-routed due to their demands. Elves are extremely attached to their large enchanted rocks, and if humans move or destroy these rocks, their ire can be legendary.

So it was with a recent construction project in Iceland. In the course of the project, a large boulder which had been identified as an enchanted elfin rock was toppled from the edge of a cliff and buried in a small landslide. The construction crew left it there, but they soon wish they hadn't.

After the elves' rock was buried, the construction project was plagued with delays, mechanical problems, workplace injuries, and other woes. The Icelandic government determined that the problems were being caused by elfin sabotage, and ordered that the rock be restored.

The boulder, called an "elfin lady stone," was returned to its original location and given a good cleaning with a pressure washer. Problems at the site have since disappeared.
