This is some seriously LOTR stuff right here.
This idea from France is either brilliant, sadistic or perhaps the perfect storm of both: the country has bred four eagles with the express interest of destroying drones. Not only did the golden eaglets encounter drones as the first thing they ever saw in the world as they hatched atop them, but they’ve been chasing drones for meat rewards (served atop drones) ever since.
The birds can attack a drone from 200 meters in 20 seconds so far, an impressive feat for anyone. The government is adapting the sport of falconry to the extreme as they send forth this quartet of quasi-suicide bombers into war.
Do you think this idea will pan out for the military, and if so, is it worth doing?
